Different Motor Oils and their Properties
As mentioned in the previous post there are different types of oil to choose for your car. We are going to explore the different classifications of oil and what distinct properties they have.
High Mileage
As you may think, this oil is specifically designed for vehicles have high miliage (typically over 75,000 miles). This is usually combined with seal conditioners to increase the flexibility of engine seals.
Premium Conventional
Used in new cars predominantly and come in most viscosities usually in 10W-30 / 5W-30 / 5W-20.
Conventional
The most commonly used oil in dealerships and owners who like having regular oil changes. It is recommended that its used with low mileage vehicles
Fully-synthetic
This is used for more high tech engines (mainly in newer cars). Fully synthetic oils have been tested extensively to make sure they have a longer lasting performance. It can be expensive although it maintains great levels of flow in low and high temperatures.
Synthetic-blend
Favoured by sports utility vehicle drivers as they are a mixture of fully synthetic and conventional oils at a fraction of the price.
