It has been very apparent over the past few years the cost of fuel has increased a large amount. There are a number of things that can be done to help you control your expenditure and increase fuel economy.

The first surprisingly obvious thing to do would be to change your current car for one that is more fuel efficient. Whether hybrid, electric or generally a smaller engine could be advisable. As painful as it may be to part from your gas guzzling vehicle it could safe you a lot of money.

If that is not an option you could try “hypermiling” and try and squeeze the most out of your fuel. Things like using your computer dashboard for fuel optimisation, costing down a hill and reducing the weight in the car from unused items that could be clogging up your boot.

Try driving slower than you usually do. Instead of rushing to work in the mornings take that extra time and go at a reasonable pace and reduce the frequency of quick breaking and accelerations.
